Hawaiian Telcom Selects Telespree to Automate Activation Process For Wireless Customers


Over-the-Air Solution Reduces Operational Costs and Improves Customer Experience

SAN FRANCISCO, December 3, 2007 - Telespree Communications, the leader of self-service solutions for wireless carriers and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), today announced that Hawaiian Telcom Communications, Inc., Hawaii's leading telecommunications provider, has deployed Telespree’s advanced Over-the-Air (OTA) platform to automate wireless handset activation and streamline customer care processes.

With Telespree’s self-service technology, Hawaiian Telcom designed a solution to allow subscribers to simply key in a PIN and automatically activate their device. The phone is shipped unprogrammed and a PIN is used to securely assign the subscriber’s account with the handset. The Telespree application connects to the carrier’s backend system, the device is programmed over-the-air, the phone number is presented to the customer and is then ready to use.

The Telespree OTA solution replaces a manual process that involved customers calling into customer care to be guided through several steps to program their devices. With Telespree’s automated solution, programming is simplified and the customer can instantly use the phone. In addition, calls to customer care are reduced so representatives can assist more customers.
